Beef Stroganoff Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 pound (450g) beef tenderloin or sirloin steak, thinly sliced into strips
- 1 onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 8 ounces (225g) mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Chopped parsley, for garnish
- Egg noodles or rice, for serving
Instructions:
- In a large skillet, heat the butter and oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced beef and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook until translucent. Add the minced garlic and sliced mushrooms, and cook until the mushrooms are golden brown and any liquid has evaporated.
- Sprinkle the flour over the onion and mushroom mixture and stir well to combine. This will help thicken the sauce.
- Gradually add the beef broth, stirring constantly to create a smooth sauce. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
- Return the cooked beef to the skillet and stir to combine with the sauce. Allow everything to simmer for a few minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Stir in the sour cream and Dijon mustard. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue to cook on low heat for a few more minutes, but avoid boiling to prevent curdling.
- Serve the beef stroganoff over cooked egg noodles or rice. Garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh burst of flavor.
